I talking about Memory Mates today with a photographer friend and we both do the same sort of thing, we design our own. It does take more work, but it is worth it I think. To give our clients something unique that is reflective of who we are as photographer/designers is much more personal than using a template designed by someone in a factory type design studio and is used by hundreds of studios around the country. We customize fonts and really concentrate on how all the elements relate back to the school were doing the work for. And when we get a good one...boy that even gets us excited! Awhile back I threw out the idea on facebook that if anyone had one of their out-dated iphones sitting in a drawer not being used that I was interested in using it for its camera. I have ideas to try different thing to see what sort of thing I can make with them. I got an immediate response from George offering his old iphone. 'What do you want for it George?' - 'oh I don't know you decide.' he said. A little while later he wrote back, 'how about doing a portrait of me?' So toady I made some portraits of George and he brought me his old iphone---which by the way looks brand new. I haven't tried too much with it yet but have discovered that the lens isn't as wide and for some reason records more than what I see in the viewfinder---so there will be a learning curve involved--but we'll see what we get with this one---its not as high res. as the new phone--so I'm thinking this might be one to really experiment with diffusion...we'll see. I made these pictures of George with my 'real' camera today. I've got more to go thru, but wanted to share a few quick edits today. SayerMotter Photographs by Richard Sayer.
