Today I got a chance to work on a global story that came into our neighborhood. Children caught in the earthquake that devastated Haiti last week are now living here in Crawford County. These children were in the process of being adopted by the Mattocks family in Saegertown when the earthquake hit. Their arrival here this early is actually one of the good things that came about because of this tragedy. I managed to get a couple of candid portraits of Peter, the second from oldest of the four brothers. Though I knew a picture of just one of the children would satisfy the story, I thought concentrating on one of the boys to find something within him to cature could perhaps tell a deeper story. Peter is a bright kid. When ask by the reporter interviewing he and his brother what do they think their former school in Haiti needs the most in terms of help, Peter simply said love. I also included below a couple othe frames from my 40 minutes or so with the family as they were being interviewed and the family portrait I took just before leaving. This story should appear in Monday's paper, Meadville Tribune photos by Richard Sayer
