I guess I'll never hone in on one style and make it my own, I find interest in making images in hundreds of ways. I was looking at some Francis Bacon Paintings and he had a style and stuck with it--his techniques was such that when he experimented with it-it still looked like the same process and therefore the work was cohesive and consistent. I struggle with this because I am always trying to re-discover myself, always trying to change the way I shoot--perhaps looking for 'my style.' Not sure why, maybe its ADD or some other sense of wanting or discovery. I'll try anything that comes into my head and then usually I have to try it again to improve on it. I had this idea a while back to use white paint on face and I was hoping to make these both elegant and ethereal. Not sure what I did make out of them, I feel there is something here but I haven't found its form yet and I think somehow these will make their way into other work I do down the road. The best part of this sort of thing is what I learn that I can take into other shoots and other ideas. Now I have a little more know-how. Today is the last class meeting of my photo 1 class at Allegheny, and this is what I plan to discuss with them. Its only a beginning, and if they approach their work right--25 years from now will still only be the beginning as they will continue to strive to make work that isn't the same thing ovar and over and over again.
