Well it didn't quite work the way I was hoping. Years ago I photographed Miss Crawford County reflected in two mirrors set up in 'V' so that she was reflected multiple times. The background for that picture was a blue sky and it worked very well. Her gown with a V neck created an almost flower petal shape. When I was getting together for a photo shoot yesterday with Destiny I wanted to try this again. It was difficult to get a picture that didn't have the clutter of stuff in the studio. The fully round kaleidoscope feel just wasn't affective with the clutter that I just couldn't quite get rid of. Its something I will work on for a future shoot and I did get a few pretty neat shots out of it, but just not quite what I was hoping for. Photograph by Richard Sayer

A slideshow posted today of my favorite 2009 images.I feel one of the great things about The Meadville Tribune over the years is it committment to visual journalism. We were very early with producing and distributing multimedia and slideshows to our readers. Beginning back in 2006 we have posted over 400 slideshows and videos since then. Though economic times have made it more difficult for us to find the time to work on multimedia, we still try our best to put out slideshows and as many community images as we can. Our on-going features showcasing the pictures of each month can stand as a document to the year and the many community activities that make up the lives we live in Crawford County, We continue to try improving on our visual presentations and grow as journalists and photographers. My friend and fellow Tribune photojournalist Jim Stefanucci's favorites can seen by clicking the link below. Today I had to photograph a swearing in ceremony. In my nearlt 13 years at the paper I had only photographed one such ceremony and that was years ago. I looked for interesting angles and had a real tough time with some lighting issues. This one window was making my desire to use available light tricky as it was so bright that the light would 'bleed' around the subjects of my photographs. I found ways of getting around it, but my photographs seemed a bit straightforward--which was fine, documenting the event was more important than me finding my photograph. At one point I decided to try to use the window light and create a silhouette and this is the picture I got. I certainly didn't think it was indicative of the event and didn't even consider it for the newspaper, but I thought I'd share it with you all here. Photograph by Richard Sayer
