Today I had to photograph a swearing in ceremony. In my nearlt 13 years at the paper I had only photographed one such ceremony and that was years ago. I looked for interesting angles and had a real tough time with some lighting issues. This one window was making my desire to use available light tricky as it was so bright that the light would 'bleed' around the subjects of my photographs. I found ways of getting around it, but my photographs seemed a bit straightforward--which was fine, documenting the event was more important than me finding my photograph. At one point I decided to try to use the window light and create a silhouette and this is the picture I got. I certainly didn't think it was indicative of the event and didn't even consider it for the newspaper, but I thought I'd share it with you all here. Photograph by Richard Sayer
