I have this polarizing filter that I thought I'd try to put on a lens, but it doesn't fit any of my lenses. So I was sort of messing around and saw a chance to try a different way of using it. I don't know if I will do much with it or if I'll do anything else with it, but it was interesting to find another thing to add to my photographic vocabulary and I do see possibilities in using this idea for possible client work, senior portraits perhaps, maybe some modeling/fashion shots--we'll see. Over my years at The Meadville Tribune there are few people that I come across regularly that are just good people. Sandy Rossi, Crawford County's United Way director for as many years as I can remember decided to retire and I was sent to get a photograph at her party at the UW yesterday. I took the usual, hugs, looking over presents brought and mingling, but this laugh with Dave Roncolato and her husband Mike was my favorite. Partly because it was unexpected and partly because Mike was turning away ad toward the camera which made it seem like the space and activity went beyond the frame. Its a moment and one not expected--its real -its what I try to get each time I do an assignment. No tricks of camera and no weird angles--things we try to make a picture more interesting when their just doesn't seem to be any authentic moments happening in front of us. So your kid just qualified for states, what do you do. Well first you celebrate and tell him what an outstanding accomplishment that is and then you look up hotels for the trip across state for the tournament. Another thing we're hoping you think about in the future is calling us up to make pictures and make something special to commemorate the event. We photographed the Maplewood Junior wrestlers this year and these four made it through the regional qualifier to get a shot wrestling in the state tournament. Well done. We think something more than just a picture standing in the gym is what you deserve. Photograph and design by SayerMotter Photography.
We also are hoping to custom design posters like the one below for some of the place winners with their state place and regional place incorporated into the design. And we'll custom design for any school. |
