A few years ago I began looking at some old photographs and negatives hoping to find something I'd overlooked or something to inspire me to do new work. By accident I stumbled upon a body of work I now call re-shoots. Basically I re-photograph my old photographs by holding them up to a light source, thus changing the lighting and look of the original photo. Sometimes I only photograph a small part of the original photo, sometimes I layer two or three photos together. I even began to photograph negatives with negative film to see if I got a positive image. I did. I made thousands of images in this fashion. Above is a photograph of my friend Melissa Mark photographed in 1996 sandwiched with an image of a reflection of hubcap on the ground that I shot my first year in Meadville in 1994.
