Deke(pronounced Deekee) was the older brother of Boom Boom and Bam Bam. I took this photograph in the summer of 1986 as I worked as a camp councilor at Camp Westwood in Coventry RI. I was told that Deke was 'slow' due to having eaten lead paint chip as a toddler. I didn't know, but he was a very happy and sweet soul. I took this picture during a free time for the campers and Deke didn't really know what to do, but he said he like looking out at the water which he did often during his breaks. He also loved to swim and fish, both of which he didn't get a chance to do much living in inner city Providence. You should've seen his face, a big smile and his eyes just lit up like you wouldn't believe every time he caught a sunfish. Photograph by Richard Sayer
